Despite the all layoff news... does tech jobs still hot in the market?
Welcome to another Snowflair newsletter!
On the latest MindFly episode, we have shared some data and info about the recent layoff. But despite all the layoffs in 2023, does the market will recover soon in 2023?
According on Zippa.com. In 2022, the U.S. tech industry ranked second in driving the country's economy with an estimated market value of $1.8 trillion and over 264,500 new jobs created. As of 2020, the industry employs approximately 12.2 million workers and there are over 585,000 tech companies in the U.S.
The short answer is yes, tech jobs are still in high demand in 2023... 🔥
Technology has been driving innovation and shaping the world we live in for several decades. As technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, the demand for tech jobs has skyrocketed. From software development to artificial intelligence and machine learning, the field of technology is continuously evolving, and job opportunities are plentiful. But are tech jobs still in high demand in 2023 or in the near future? Let's take a closer look with Snowflair! 👏
The opportunity for engineers will be increasing exponentially 📈
According to a report by the World Economic Forum, the global demand for digital skills will increase by 50% by 2025. This means that the need for technology professionals will continue to grow in the coming years 👍. One factor that contributing to the high demand for tech jobs is the rise of emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning. As Technical Recruiter, I have seen so many companies have adopted technology and doing digital transformation with huge engineer talents hiring demands. (If the companies wants to remain competitive in the market, they will need to leverage on technology and enhance their product, customer experiences etc..) Below are some good source about growing job demands VS decreasing job demand ⬇️
These technologies are transforming industries and creating new jobs opportunity that require specialized skills and expertise. For example, AI and machine learning experts are needed to develop algorithms and ML models that can automate complex tasks and improve business operations. 🙂
Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic 🦠 has also accelerated the pace of digital transformation, causing many businesses to shift their operations online. This has resulted in a surge in demand for engineers who can help companies adapt to the new reality. The e-commerce industry emerged as one of the major beneficiaries.
For instance, Weee! , founded in 2015, is a preeminent e-grocer specializing in Asian and Hispanic food products in the United States. Two years ago, I was involved in supporting Weee! from a recruitment perspective, their revenue and headcount have skyrocketed due to the impact of the covid-19 and shelter-in-place... The status from CNBC has showed that, 🚚 Weee! has fulfilled more than 15 million orders so far. Its monthly active users have grown more than 150% year over year. To date, the start-up has raised more than $800 million in funding — including a $425 million investment round announced in February led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2. 💪
In conclusion 🤞
Based on the available data and trends, it appears that the demand for tech jobs will remain high in 2023 and beyond due to several factors such as we mentioned earlier: emerging technology, adoption of digital technologies by businesses, AI innovation, and the post-pandemic world's demands 🔥. (In another hands, that also means if you are interested in pursuing a career in technical recruitment, there will be numerous job openings available in the near future!)
In addition, the tech industry is continuing to expand and diversify, offering an abundance of opportunities for engineers in various subfields such as software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, ML Engineer, and more. Therefore, it is safe to say that engineers will continue to be in high demand in the near future, making it one of the hottest jobs in the technology industry. 🫡
